Each fall semester, the partnership hosts a workshop built around a discussion format, led by subject matter experts in the field but open to participation by all attendees. Each spring semester, students and faculty gather in an academic forum to present their current research on national security in a more traditional conference style with panels chaired by distinguished scholars.

Annual Writing Contests

The N3SP sponsored two writing competitions in both fiction and non-fiction categories. The winners were recognized at the 2024 Spring Forum.

Lieutenant General John Shaw speaks to N3SP Fall 2022 Workshop participants

The 2022 fall workshop addressed a range of national security challenges in terms of space and cyber security as well as nuclear deterrence. Participants included cadets, students and faculty from the participating schools along with leading scholars and experts from government, think-tanks, other universities, and private industry. Lieutenant General John Shaw presented the Keynote Address following lunch.

The annual Workshop and Forum events seek to foster new relationships for future research cooperation among participants within the state of Colorado and with partners across the nation. Additionally they serve to inspire students to apply what they learn to their future careers as thought leaders in national security and strategic studies whether they are in higher education, private industry, or public service.

Participation in N3SP events is by invitation only. They are typically held under the Chatham House Rule of non-attribution and thus will not be recorded or live streamed. No controlled unclassified information (CUI) is presented or discussed.

These events are made possible by a generous gift from the Anschutz Foundation
